Assistant Head of Year Location: North Manchester Salary: £(Apply online only) /day Contract Type: Full-time, temporary-Permanent Start Date: September 2026 Are you a passionate and dedicated educator committed to nurturing young people to reach their full potential? A welcoming and inclusive secondary school is seeking a dedicated and proactive Assistant Head of Year to join their pastoral team from September, until the end of the school year. This role may become a permanent role for the right candidate and provides an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to students' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and overall school experience. You will work closely with the Head of Year and wider pastoral team to support students across a designated year group, helping to maintain high standards of behaviour, attendance, and engagement. Key Responsibilities Support the Head of Year in managing the day-to-day pastoral needs of students Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers Monitor student behaviour, attendance, and punctuality, implementing interventions where required Assist with behaviour management strategies and contribute to a positive learning environment Provide emotional and practical support to students facing challenges Work collaboratively with teaching staff, safeguarding leads, and external agencies Contribute to safeguarding and ensure all policies are followed effectivelyThe Ideal Candidate Will Have Previous experience working in a secondary school or similar educational setting Strong interpersonal and communication skills A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach The ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively Good organisational and administrative skills A genuine passion for supporting young peopleExperience in a pastoral, mentoring, or behaviour support role is highly desirable.
