Role Overview The SENCO will oversee the strategic and operational management of the school’s SEND provision. This is a leadership-level support role that requires strong organisational skills, deep knowledge of SEND legislation, and a collaborative approach to working with staff and families. Key responsibilities include: • Leading the development and implementation of the school’s SEND policy • Managing and reviewing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) • Coordinating interventions for students with SEND • Working closely with teachers to ensure high-quality differentiated provision • Liaising with parents, carers, and external professionals • Overseeing the work of teaching assistants and intervention staff • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice • Monitoring the progress of students with additional needs • Delivering staff training on inclusive practice • Managing SEND budgets and resources effectively • Contributing to safeguarding and pastoral meetings This role requires strong leadership, the ability to influence whole-school practice, and a commitment to ensuring every student receives the support they need to succeed. SEND Team Information The SENCO will lead a team of experienced teaching assistants and intervention staff. The school works closely with local authority services, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and other specialist agencies. There is a strong collaborative culture between SEND, pastoral, and curriculum teams. Candidate Requirements • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant SEND qualification (or working towards NASENCO) • Proven experience in SEND leadership or coordination • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice • Excellent communication and leadership skills • Ability to build strong partnerships with families and external agencies • Experience managing intervention programmes and support staff • Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
