Checking adverts…

How we compare
Adverts usually give a range. We summarise starting pay and top-of-range pay separately rather than averaging them, then place your figure against those two medians and the wider range.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the data come from?
Adverts on SchoolJobs in the last 12 months that state pay clearly. Outliers and unclear pay are excluded, and we never convert hourly to annual or the other way round.
Why does it say not enough adverts?
We need at least 20 adverts with the same pay basis before showing a comparison, so one or two unusual adverts can't mislead you.
My pay is lower than adverts — what can I do?
Check your pay point against the official scale, ask about progression, and compare roles near you on SchoolJobs.
