Career decisions matter. This page explains how SchoolJobs.uk researches, writes, reviews and updates every article in our Career Advice section.

Who writes our advice

Career Advice is written and maintained by the SchoolJobs.uk editorial team. We are a job board, not a school, a union or a professional adviser. We do not publish invented author personas: if an article is not written by a named, identifiable contributor, it is attributed to the editorial team, because that is who wrote it.

How articles are researched

Where guidance depends on statutory rules — pay and conditions, safeguarding, qualification routes, right to work — we link the official publication so you can check the rule yourself.
Pay figures are not written into article text. Salary information comes from our salary pages, which are calculated from advertised vacancies and clearly labelled with the evidence behind them.
We do not quote statistics we cannot source. Where a claim would need research we do not hold, we say what varies instead of inventing a number.

Editorial review

Articles covering statutory topics are classified as higher risk. Those articles must cite an official source and carry a review-due date before they can be published, and they are re-checked at least every six months. Other guidance is re-checked at least every twelve months.

We only show a "last reviewed" date on an article when a review has actually been recorded. Where no review has been recorded, we show the publication and last-updated dates only.

Corrections

If you spot an error, tell us through our contact page. We correct the article and update its last-updated date.

Editorial independence

Career Advice is editorial. Job listings are commercial. Advice is never influenced by which schools or agencies advertise with SchoolJobs.uk, and articles never promote a specific employer over another.
