Frequently asked questions

What is the STAR method?

STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action and Result. Set the scene, say what you needed to do, explain what you did, and finish with what happened and what you learned.

Why are there safeguarding questions?

Schools must explore a candidate's suitability to work with children at interview under Keeping Children Safe in Education, so every panel asks at least one safeguarding question.

Can this tell me if I'll get the job?

No. It's practice feedback only. Real panels score against their own criteria and it can't predict how they'll score you.

Is my voice recorded?

No. Speaking uses your browser's own dictation to turn your words into text you can edit. No audio is sent to SchoolJobs.

Are my answers saved?

Only if you're signed in, and only to your own account, where you can delete them. Employers can't see them.
