Employer terms

Last updated: 26 July 2026

These terms apply to schools, academy trusts and recruitment agencies that post vacancies, claim profiles or use the applicant-tracking tools on SchoolJobs.uk. They sit alongside our general terms of use.

Free posting for direct education employers

State-funded schools, academy trusts, multi-academy trusts, colleges and local authorities may post an unlimited number of genuine vacancies at no cost. Free standard posting is not available to recruitment agencies.

Agencies

Recruitment agencies pay to publish standard adverts, using job credits or an agency plan under a separate commercial agreement. Agency listings must clearly identify the agency as the employer of record and comply with the Conduct of Employment Agencies Regulations 2003.

Vacancy content standards

  • The role must be a real, currently-open vacancy.
  • Salary must be shown, or a clear pay range provided in line with STPCD/SNCT where applicable.
  • The advert must include a safeguarding statement (see our safeguarding policy).
  • No discriminatory language under the Equality Act 2010.
  • No misleading job titles, location or contract information.

Claiming a profile

To edit a school, trust or agency profile you must verify control of the organisation's official email domain or another accepted evidence route. Misrepresentation may result in permanent removal.

Candidate data

You must handle applicant data as a data controller under UK GDPR: keep it secure, retain it only as long as necessary, and honour candidates' rights. See our privacy policy.

Who you are buying from

School Jobs UK is a trading name operating from 53B Hanbury Street, Spitalfields, London, E1 5JP, United Kingdom. School Jobs UK is not a registered limited company and is not VAT registered, so prices shown are the total amount charged and no VAT is added. For anything about a purchase, an invoice or a charge, send a support request from the contact page on our website.

Free standard job posting for direct education employers

Posting a genuine vacancy is free for eligible direct education employers — state-funded schools, academy trusts, colleges and local authorities. Eligible schools, academy trusts, colleges and local authorities can publish standard job adverts, receive applications and use their workspace without paying and without providing card details. Nothing about a free advert is degraded to sell a paid product.

Recruitment agency posting

Recruitment agencies pay to publish standard adverts, using job credits or an agency plan under a separate commercial agreement. Free standard posting is not available to recruitment agencies, and an agency advert is always labelled as an agency advert rather than as the school itself.

Featured Job (one-off purchase)

  • A Featured Job is a paid prominence placement for a single vacancy you control.
  • The promotion runs for a maximum of 14 days. It ends earlier if the vacancy closes, expires, is withdrawn or otherwise stops being eligible.
  • The vacancy must be live and eligible at the time of purchase. Payment cannot make an ineligible vacancy eligible, and it never changes moderation or approval decisions.
  • Featured placements are clearly labelled, appear only for searches the vacancy genuinely matches, use the same job page and are excluded from result counts.
  • We do not guarantee applications, interviews, hires, impressions or any ranking position.

Candidate Search

Candidate Search is not available to buy or use yet. When it opens, only education professionals who have explicitly chosen to be discoverable by verified employers will be able to appear, and a candidate decides for themselves whether to share contact details or a CV. No payment will ever widen a candidate's consent.

No organisation is being billed for it, no allowance or credit is being sold, and no candidate contact details or CVs are available to buy. If it is released, the commercial terms, the price and the acceptable-use rules will be published here before it can be purchased.

Refunds

Featured Job is the only paid product currently on sale, so it is the only product these refund terms apply to. Once a promotion has begun it is normally non-refundable merely because applicant volume was lower than expected, the vacancy was filled quickly, the vacancy was closed by the employer, or no hire resulted.

A refund remains available where:

  • it is required by law;
  • a duplicate or incorrect charge was taken;
  • there was a material School Jobs UK billing or technical failure that prevented the purchased product from being delivered;
  • billing was unauthorised or applied to the wrong organisation; or
  • we approve a refund at our discretion.

Refund requests: send a support request from our contact page so we have a reference to work from.

Payment processing

Payments are taken by our payment provider on a secure hosted checkout. We never see or store your full card details. We keep a record of what was purchased, the amount, the date, the organisation and the provider reference so we can support you and honour our obligations. An entitlement is only activated after the provider's authoritative confirmation reaches our server — returning to the site from checkout does not by itself grant anything.

Suspension for misuse

We may suspend or withdraw a paid product where these terms, our safeguarding policy, candidate-data restrictions or applicable law are breached. We will explain the reason in writing.

Suspension & removal

We may remove vacancies or suspend accounts that breach these terms, our safeguarding policy, or applicable law. We'll explain the reason in writing.

Liability

You indemnify SchoolJobs.uk against third-party claims arising from your content or your handling of applicant data.
