Job Type: Full time Job Location: Braintree School Setting: Secondary School Contract Type: Permanent REF: SSD/191669 Rate: £33,075 - £50,471 per annum Hours: 8:30–15:30 Start Date: September 2025 We are seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Braintree. This full-time, permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students and develop their understanding of history, critical thinking, and global perspectives. As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons, encouraging students to explore the past and develop analytical and evaluative skills. You will work within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment, ensuring students gain a deep appreciation of historical events and their relevance to the modern world. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who is committed to high-quality teaching and curriculum innovation. Prior experience is preferred, and professional development opportunities will be available. Key Responsibilities: • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive History lessons, aligned with the national curriculum. • Teach historical concepts, events, and critical analysis skills at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. • Inspire students to think critically, question perspectives, and engage in meaningful discussions. • Adapt teaching strategies to support a range of learning needs and abilities. • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and individualised support. • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages independent learning. • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the school’s Humanities curriculum. • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and achievement, in line with school policies. • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure the welfare of all students. Qualifications and Experience: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. • A strong knowledge of the History curriculum, including GCSE and A-Level standards. • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting is preferred. • A passion for engaging students through innovative and interactive teaching methods. • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills. • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
