Start : September Location : Weston-super-Mare Role : Supply PE Teacher Contract : Flexible / ad-hoc supply Pay : Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience) About the Role We are recruiting enthusiastic PE Teachers to provide flexible supply cover across secondary schools in Weston-super-Mare from September. This role is ideal for teachers who can deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons, maintain strong behaviour expectations, and encourage pupils to participate fully in practical and classroom-based PE learning. You will be responsible for following school plans, supporting safe and inclusive lessons, and helping pupils develop confidence, teamwork, resilience, and physical skills across KS3 and KS4. Key Duties • Deliver engaging PE lessons across KS3 and KS4 * Cover a range of practical and theory-based Physical Education lessons depending on school requirements * Follow pre-planned lessons and adapt delivery where needed * Promote participation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive attitudes towards physical activity * Manage behaviour effectively in indoor and outdoor learning environments * Ensure lessons are delivered safely and in line with school policies * Support pupils of varying abilities and encourage progress, confidence, and enjoyment * Provide clear feedback to teaching staff where required * Work flexibly across different secondary school settings in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding area Skills & Personal Qualities • Strong subject knowledge in Physical Education * Confident delivering practical PE lessons to secondary-aged pupils * Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills * Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment * Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt quickly to different school settings * Positive and professional approach to supply teaching * Ability to motivate pupils and encourage participation in sport and physical activity * Organised, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards * Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider school team Experience & Requirements • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification is desirable * Previous experience teaching PE within a UK secondary school setting * Ability to teach Physical Education across KS3 and KS4 * Strong understanding of health and safety expectations within practical PE lessons * Good knowledge of the secondary PE curriculum and effective behaviour management strategies * Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one * Right to work in the UK * Willingness to complete all necessary compliance and safeguarding checks Benefits of Working with Monarch Education: • GCA Approved Supplier • opportunity to enhance your CPD portfolio through our Affinity Academy • free Safeguarding training • refer a friend scheme - £200 bonus (you can make unlimited referrals) • online portal to manage your pay and timesheets To learn more about us and what makes Monarch one of the leading education recruitment providers nationwide - please visit our website - About Us - Monarch (monarcheducation.co.uk) Important Information: • All pay rates provided are inclusive of rolled up holiday pay. • Equal Opportunities - Monarch • Affinity Workforce Solutions and Monarch Education are committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people and expects all its temporary workers to share these commitments.
