SEND Science Teacher – Long-Term Role from September | North East London Horizon Teachers are working with a specialist SEND school in North East London that is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Science Teacher to join their team on a long-term basis from September. This is an exciting opportunity to teach Science in a highly supportive specialist setting, working with children and young people with visual impairments and a range of additional learning needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering an engaging, accessible, and inclusive Science curriculum that enables every student to achieve their full potential. Working closely with the SENCO, specialist support staff, therapists, and teaching assistants, you will adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet the individual needs of each learner, promoting both academic progress and personal independence. This role is ideal for a compassionate, creative, and committed teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and making Science accessible for all learners. SEND experience is not essential. In the Role as a SEND Science Teacher, you will: Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons for students with visual impairments and additional SEND.
Adapt teaching materials, practical activities, and assessments to ensure accessibility for all learners.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where students can develop confidence and independence.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, specialist vision support staff, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Monitor student progress and use assessment to inform personalised learning plans.
Support students' academic, social, emotional, and personal development throughout their educational journey.
Promote independence, resilience, and life skills while maintaining high expectations for all learners.The Ideal Candidate Will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Have experience teaching Science at secondary level, ideally within a SEND or specialist education setting.
Have knowledge or experience supporting students with visual impairments and additional learning needs, or demonstrate a strong willingness to develop these specialist skills.
Be confident adapting lessons to meet a wide range of educational needs and learning styles.
Demonstrate excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
Be patient, resilient, and committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for young people with SEND.
