About the role

Every behaviour is a form of communication. We're recruiting SEMH Learning Support Assistants to work in specialist provisions across Gateshead. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who have experienced barriers to learning, helping them develop positive relationships, improve emotional regulation and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom. Role Information • Full-time • September start • Monday-Friday • 8:30am-3:30pm or 8:30am-4:30pm • Term-time only • Long-term placement Duties include • Providing 1:1 support • Delivering small group interventions • Supporting emotional wellbeing • Encouraging positive behaviour • Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff • Recording pupil progress • Promoting independence and confidence Ideal candidate • Patient and resilient • Positive attitude • Excellent communication skills • Experience within education, care, youth work or coaching desirable • Passion for helping young people succeed All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
