SEN Learning Support Assistant - KS1 Location: Mid Sussex Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only Start Date: September 2026 Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? Academics is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Mid Sussex to recruit a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 . This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children build confidence, achieve their goals and thrive in the classroom. The Role As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will: • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils across KS1. • Support children with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH. • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement tailored support plans. • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing. • Help create an engaging, inclusive and nurturing learning environment. • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents. The Ideal Candidate • Has experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting. • Is patient, caring and enthusiastic. • Can build trusting relationships with young children. • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Is committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
