Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time Start Date: September 2026 Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience) Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work across a range of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in Scarborough. We are looking for a patient, resilient, and enthusiastic support professional who is passionate about helping students with Special Educational Needs achieve their full academic, social, and emotional potential. SEN Teaching Assistant Role: The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, working closely with teachers to deliver inclusive learning experiences and promote independence. We are looking to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with students and confidently support those with a variety of learning, communication, and behavioural needs. SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs • Assist teachers in adapting learning activities to meet individual student needs • Support students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and SEMH needs where appropriate • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence in the classroom • Monitor student progress and communicate observations with teaching and pastoral staff • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support positive student outcomes SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements: • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational or care setting is desirable • Knowledge of a range of Special Educational Needs and inclusive support strategies • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills • A patient, caring, and resilient approach to supporting young people • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained) • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply To apply to work with GSL Education as an SEN Teaching Assistant in Scarborough, or to find out more about this opportunity, please submit an up-to-date CV via the application link.
