About the role

SEN Teaching Assistant - Backwell Salary; £22, 996 to £29,982.50 (Actual annual salary, dependent on experience and qualifications) Permanent Full-Time Term Time Only Location; Backwell Hours; 40 Hours per week Interviews to take place week commencing 20th July We are proud to be supporting one of our clients who are opening a new school in January 2027 , and we're looking for a number of dedicated Teaching Assistants . This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly transformative. The school will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 96 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive. The role: As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning and wellbeing, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential. You'll work closely with the Class Teacher and wider team to create a caring, safe and stimulating environment. Your responsibilities will include: • Supporting pupils with learning activities and reinforcing concepts taught by the teacher. • Promoting positive behaviour and adapting responses to meet individual needs. • Assisting with personal care, including hygiene, dressing and eating when required. • Encouraging independence and personal development. • Providing feedback on pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing. • Helping prepare resources and contribute to lesson planning and evaluation. Essential Qualifications • GCSE Maths and English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2). • Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or willingness to work towards). Essential Skills & Experience • Commitment to putting the child first and treating them as an individual. • Ability to promote independence and positive behaviour • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Competent ICT skills and ability to work as part of a team. Desirable • Experience in a special school setting. • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures. How to apply?
