We are recruiting on behalf of a brand-new specialist SEN school opening in Barnsley this September . This is a fantastic opportunity to join a new setting from day one and play a key role in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for children with a range of additional needs.
The school is part of a highly respected multi-academy trust with a strong reputation for delivering outstanding support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Their approach is centred around inclusion, personalised learning, strong partnerships with families, and ensuring every child has access to a broad, ambitious curriculum that enables them to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, Communication and Interaction needs, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
• Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised learning and intervention programmes.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to support their emotional, social, and academic development.
• Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements To be considered for this role, you must:
• Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Ideally have experience within a specialist SEN school, provision, resource base, or similar setting.
• Be patient, resilient, and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
