Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs? Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Burton upon Trent to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis from September. This welcoming and inclusive SEN school provides high-quality education and specialist support for pupils with a range of complex learning needs. The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school
Work with children with needs including: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD & SLD)
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Physical and Complex Needs
Provide both 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their personalised learning targets
Promote independence, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
Support the implementation of EHCP outcomes and individual education plans
Adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils' individual needs
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and wider multidisciplinary teams
Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive Working Hours Monday to Friday
Full Time SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements The successful candidate will: Hold a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 is desirable)
Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Care Worker, or in a similar role supporting children or young people with additional needs
Have experience supporting pupils with SEND within either education, care, or residential settings
Demonstrate patience, resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
Be confident managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies
Hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
