Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Burton upon Trent to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis from September . This welcoming and inclusive SEN school provides high-quality education and specialist support for pupils with a range of complex learning needs. The school is renowned for its nurturing ethos, outstanding staff support, and commitment to helping every child achieve their full potential in a safe and engaging learning environment. The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school • Work with children with needs including: • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD & SLD) • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs • Physical and Complex Needs • Provide both 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their personalised learning targets • Promote independence, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour • Support the implementation of EHCP outcomes and individual education plans • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils' individual needs • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and wider multidisciplinary teams • Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive Working Hours Monday to Friday Full Time SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements The successful candidate will: • Hold a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 is desirable) • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Care Worker, or in a similar role supporting children or young people with additional needs • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND within either education, care, or residential settings • Demonstrate patience, resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential • Be confident managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies • Hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one • Be available to work full-time from September Why Join Tradewind Recruitment? • Access to exclusive SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities across Burton upon Trent and the surrounding areas • Competitive rates of pay with weekly payroll • Free access to over 2,500 CPD-accredited training courses through The National College • Ongoing support from a dedicated specialist education consultant • Opportunities for long-term, permanent, and career development roles • Work with schools that prioritise inclusion, wellbeing, and professional development Apply Today If you're a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or support professional looking for a rewarding opportunity in a dedicated SEN school, we'd love to hear from you.
