Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant (Full Time) Location: Close to Christchurch Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Temporary until 23rd October (potentially permanent) Institution: KS1 Pay: £85-£100 per day About the Role We are seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant who has experience with those with Autism, SEMH, and ADHD to join a small school near the Christchurch area. This rewarding role involves supporting a student with additional needs, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential. The role will be starting from September 2026 with the school looking to make the position permanent for the right person. About the School The school has a strong reputation for inclusion and is recognised for its comprehensive Learning Support provision. The dedicated SEND team works closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 support fand 2:1 support for those with additional needs • Be able to adapt activities and resources to meet personalised needs • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions. • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans. • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records. • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners • Accompany children to off-site learning opportunities Requirements • Previous experience supporting young pupils with additional needs • Have a strong understanding of SEMH, SCLN and Autism • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting infant children • Previous experience using PECs or Makaton an advantage but not essential • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices. • Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).
