A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Upminster is looking for an empathetic and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This full-time, long-term role involves working closely with secondary-aged students who require extra tailored support to thrive academically and socially. For the right candidate, this position offers a clear pathway to a permanent contract. Whether your background is directly in schools, or you have strong transferable experience mentoring youth or working in care, your skills are highly valued here. Your Role & Responsibilities: • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group interventions for students with special educational needs (such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties). • Assist classroom teachers in adapting lesson materials to ensure all students can access the curriculum. • Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of pupils, helping them build independent learning skills. • Collaborate closely with the school SENDCo to track progress and implement individual education plans. Who We Are Looking For: To be considered for this role, you must have prior experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals. We are highly interested in candidates with experience as a: • SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant • School Support Worker / Cover Supervisor • Youth Worker / Community Mentor • Support Worker / Care Assistant (eager to transition into an educational setting) The ideal candidate will be patient, highly adaptable, and genuinely committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
