About the role

Academics are currently looking for experienced Primary Teaching Assistants for short and long-term opportunities within our partnership schools. Working across Cheshire (East & West) can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of schools that have different requirements to suit. We are proud to say that here at Academics we have had a strong record of placing many of our Teaching Assistants into permanent work following a successful period of long term supply within our primary schools. Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant: • Supporting the teacher with the delivery of the lesson. • Preparing the classroom for lessons, such as setting up equipment. • Managing behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning. • Working with learners either 1-2-1 or in a small groups. • Committed to support both the teacher and the learners to succeed. For this role, applicants who apply must: • Have previous experience of working with children in a primary school or educational setting in the UK. • Hold confident communication skills and will be an excellent motivator in the classroom. • Have strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. • Be happy to travel and to be able to get to our partnership schools in Cheshire by 8.30am with sometimes only 30-60 minute's notice for our on the day supply requirements. • Have a good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above/Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required). • Be familiar with the UK National Curriculum. • Own a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied). Please be aware that your daily rate will be dependent upon experience, prior qualifications, training, and the client rate that is currently available.
