Teaching Assistant Role: Temporary Location: Lytchett Minster, Poole, Dorset Pay: Up to £13.26 per hour Description: Job - 1:1 Teaching Assistant, to support a 14 year old girl with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan to access learning alongside her peers Start date - ASAP (subject to pre-start checks) Contract term - Fixed term until July 2027 Working hours - 30 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8.35am-3.15pm Weeks per year - School term-time Grade - Grade 5 Salary range - (per annum) Support staff pay scale points 5 - £25,583 (FTE), £18,587 (pro rata) Location - Lytchett Minster School Reports to - Headteacher/SENDCo About The Post 30 hours per week Dorset Council is looking for colleagues who are passionate about supporting teaching and who will relish the prospect of making a positive difference in the life of this young person, who is described as polite and well behaved, with a love of music. This post will be based at Lytchett Minster School and represents an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to work alongside and in partnership with the thriving Student Support Centre and to work with a friendly and supportive team housed in excellent modern facilities. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has a talent for engaging students with learning, and you will be required to work flexibly across all subject areas. There will be opportunities to develop within the team and make a valued contribution to this young persons' learning. The successful candidate will be required to support them to access all learning activities. The working hours for this post are 8.35am - 3.15pm, Monday to Friday, on a fixed term contract to start as soon as possible. Set in a semi-rural location with an 18th Century family Manor House at its heart, Lytchett has one of the most beautiful and inspirational learning environments in the county with stunning extensive grounds and a number of modern extensions. The school is massively over-subscribed and highly regarded in the community. Parents know that Lytchett looks after its students, providing them with outstanding pastoral care and high-quality teaching. The school has a successful, thriving sixth form with over 340 students. Lytchett has not joined a multi-academy trust, and has no intention of doing so, because it values its independence as a secondary school which serves its local community and produces outstanding outcomes for its students. We Would Love To Hear From You If You • Have a minimum of 3 GCSEs A-C (9-4), including Maths and English, or equivalent • Know and are able to apply consistently a range of school policies, particularly those regarding health and safety, equal opportunities, behaviour management, child protection and special educational needs (SEN) • Have the necessary skills to manage safely, the classroom activities, the physical learning space and the resources for which you are responsible for • Understand and are able to use a range of strategies to deal with the young person's individual special educational needs • Take personal responsibility for your own professional development • Are flexible and are able to use your initiative • Have excellent communication skills We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines. The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements. The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year. This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
