About the role

Creativity can change a young person's day. Sometimes, it can change their future. We're looking for a resilient, creative and adaptable Secondary Art Teacher to join a specialist SEN/SEMH school where relationships come first and every small success is worth celebrating. This isn't your typical Art teaching role. Every day is different, and that's exactly what makes it so rewarding. You'll work with young people who may have experienced barriers to learning, social, emotional and mental health needs, or additional learning needs. Your creativity won't just inspire artwork, it will build confidence, trust and self-belief. What you'll be doing • Delivering engaging Art lessons that meet the individual needs of each learner. • Adapting your teaching style, resources and pace to support a wide range of abilities and learning profiles. • Using creativity as a tool to promote emotional regulation, confidence and positive engagement. • Building strong, consistent relationships that help students feel safe, understood and ready to learn. • Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider pastoral team to support every young person's journey. • Celebrating progress in all its forms, because every step forward matters. We're looking for someone who • Holds UK QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification. • Has experience teaching secondary-aged pupils, ideally within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision, although teachers with a genuine passion for inclusive education are encouraged to apply. • Is calm, patient and able to adapt quickly when plans change. • Understands that no two learners are the same and is confident tailoring lessons to meet individual needs. • Builds positive relationships through consistency, empathy and high expectations. • Sees challenges as opportunities to make a lasting difference. Why you'll love this role • Join a supportive, child-centred team where collaboration is at the heart of everything. • Make a genuine difference to young people who need the right educator at the right time. • Access ongoing CPD and specialist SEN training to continue developing your skills. • Be part of a school that celebrates creativity, resilience and every achievement, no matter how small. Why Protocol Education? • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies • FREE access to our online CPD Academy • Personalised support from your dedicated consultant • Opportunities across mainstream, SEND and alternative provisions • Simple registration and local placements • Referral scheme with rewards for introducing friends If you're an Art Teacher who thrives on variety, enjoys thinking on your feet and believes creativity can unlock potential, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and help create a classroom where every student has the chance to express themselves, grow in confidence and succeed. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
