Job description

At Icknield High School everything we do is underpinned by our overriding philosophy of ‘Raising the Achievement of All’. We believe that every student, regardless of background, should be afforded the same opportunities to be successful and that nothing should hold a child back from pursuing their talents and passions. We have consistently high expectations of our students and encourage excellence in all aspects of school life. In 2025, 57% of our students achieved a grade 5 and above in Maths and English and 74% achieved a grade 4 and above in Maths and English. These are the highest outcomes in Luton town. We are seeking an inspiring, compassionate, and ambitious professional to join the Pastoral team as a Fixed Term Isolation Room (FTI) Supervisor. This is a key role for someone who is committed to making a meaningful difference to young people’s lives by supporting high standards of behaviour, student wellbeing, and personal development. Working closely with the Senior Leader, Pastoral Leaders and Pastoral Support Officers. The successful candidate will help to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to succeed. The role will include: Managing and supervising the Fixed Term Isolation Room (FTI) at Icknield High School, ensuring a calm, structured and purposeful environment where students complete their learning and reflect upon their behaviour. The post holder will support the school’s behaviour systems, pastoral provision, and safeguarding responsibilities, contributing to improved outcomes for students and maintaining high expectations across the school. If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience for the above position, please write a statement of no more than two sides of A4 outlining your experience, skills, and knowledge, and how these will support you in the role of Assistant Pastoral Leader and contribute to improving behaviour within the school. Please submit the statement to Mrs Freeman-Headteacher’s PA, via e-mail tfreeman@icknield.beds.sch.uk. The school reserves the right to interview strong candidates before the advertised closing date and appoint based on the curriculum needs of the school. Closing date: Midday Wednesday 2nd September 2026. Icknield High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
