If you have a background in education, sports coaching, youth justice, military/emergency services, security, or behavior mentorship, your transferable skills make you the ideal cover supervisor for the classrooms that need you most. What the Role Demands This is a highly rewarding but demanding role. You won't be expected to plan or mark lessons, but your primary responsibility as a cover supervisor is to own the room. Command the Room: Step into unfamiliar secondary school classrooms and instantly establish boundaries with teenagers using a calm, assertive presence. De-escalate Disruption: Effectively utilize school behavior policies to handle defiance, diffuse tension, and keep students on-task. Adaptability: Think on your feet. You will move between different subjects and age groups daily, maintaining structure and safety in the teacher's absence. Support & Guide: Ensure the pre-set work is completed while keeping a positive, respectful atmosphere.What We Are Looking For We want personality, presence, and grit. You will thrive in the role of cover supervisor if you: Have exceptional behavior management skills-you know how to handle challenging situations without losing your cool. Possess a strong, commanding physical presence and excellent communication skills. Have experience managing groups of teenagers or working in high-pressure environments (e.g., sports coaching, youth work, military, behavior intervention, gym instruction, or security). Are resilient, thick-skinned, and adaptable. Hold an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing to apply for one).What's In It For You?
