Cover Supervisor Location: Redcar and Cleveland Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience) Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible A welcoming and supportive secondary school in Redcar and Cleveland is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team. This Cover Supervisor role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers or experienced education professionals who are passionate about supporting young people and maintaining a positive learning environment. The successful Cover Supervisor will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain engaged with the work provided and that high standards of behaviour are maintained throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor: • Supervising classes in the absence of the classroom teacher. • Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring pupils remain on task. • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies. • Providing support and guidance to pupils where appropriate. • Recording attendance and reporting any concerns to senior staff. • Creating a positive, safe and engaging learning environment. • Supporting the wider school team when required. • Upholding safeguarding and behaviour expectations at all times. The Ideal Cover Supervisor Will: • Have previous experience working with children or young people. • Be confident leading a classroom and managing behaviour effectively. • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Be adaptable, organised and professional. • Be considering a career in teaching or education (desirable). • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply). • Have a fully checkable work history.
