About The Role Connex Education are recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a supportive and community-focused secondary academy in Scunthorpe. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about creating a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their best. As a Cover Supervisor, you will provide classroom support by delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher. You will ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning, establish a calm and purposeful classroom environment and manage behaviour consistently in line with the academy’s expectations. The successful candidate will be confident working with students aged 11–16, able to build positive and respectful relationships and have the ability to motivate and encourage young people. You will work closely with teaching staff to support continuity of learning, provide feedback following lessons and contribute to the wider success of the academy. This role would suit graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to develop their skills within an educational setting. Person Specification To be considered for this role, candidates must have / be able to demonstrate: • Degree OR GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above in both, or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2). • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with pupils and staff. • The ability to build positive and respectful relationships with pupils. • A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting pupil progress and school life. • Good literacy and numeracy skills to support learning and classroom administration. • The ability to maintain a calm, purposeful and positive learning environment. • An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries within a school setting. • Adaptability and resilience when working across different subjects and year groups. • High standards of professional behaviour, presentation and integrity. • A willingness to engage in professional development and respond positively to feedback. • Completion of the Connex Education / Academize Effective Cover Supervision training course (access will be provided to all suitable applicants). • A full enhanced DBS certificate. • Completion of the Connex Education onboarding process.
