Design & Technology Teacher Location: Hull Role: Design and Technology Teacher (With engineering desirable) Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 depending on experience Start Date: September 2026 - December 2026 with the look to extend Contract: Full-Time Inspire. Transform Lives. GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Design & Technology Teacher with Engineering experience to join a highly supportive Alternative Provision in Hull. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons with a strong focus on Engineering, helping students develop practical problem-solving skills, creativity and confidence while preparing them for future education, employment and training. The Role as a Design and Technology Teacher: • Plan and deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons with a focus on Engineering. • Inspire students through practical, hands-on learning experiences. • Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of learners with a range of additional needs, including SEMH. • Create a safe, engaging and well-organised workshop environment. • Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback. • Build positive relationships with students, encouraging resilience, independence and personal growth. • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and external professionals to support individual learning plans. • Promote high standards of behaviour through positive behaviour management strategies. The Ideal Vocational Teacher will have: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification. • Experience teaching Design & Technology, with Engineering specialism desirable. • Knowledge of workshop health and safety procedures. • Experience working with students with SEMH, SEND or within an Alternative Provision is desirable, although not essential. • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills. • A flexible, patient and resilient approach to teaching. • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve success.
