Business and Economics Teacher • Location: Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire • Start Date: September 2026 • Contract: Full-time, Permanent • Salary: MPS / UPS (Dependent on experience) Wayman Education is seeking a dynamic and business-minded Business and Economics Teacher to join a thriving and highly successful department at an exceptional secondary school and sixth form in Sawbridgeworth. This full-time, permanent position is scheduled to start in September 2026 and is perfectly suited for either an experienced practitioner looking for a new challenge or an ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT). Key Responsibilities • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across GCSE and A-Level Business Studies and Economics (experience with vocational pathways like BTEC is also advantageous). • Foster a deep understanding of market economies, business operations, entrepreneurship, and global financial systems. • Assess, track, and report on student progress and attainment in line with exam board specifications (such as Edexcel, AQA, or OCR). • Utilize effective adaptive teaching strategies to stretch high-achieving sixth formers while supporting students of all learning abilities. • Contribute to the wider department by participating in moderation, enterprise initiatives, and sixth form open evenings to promote the subjects. Requirements • Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a closely related discipline. • Experience: A proven track record of teaching Business and/or Economics within a UK secondary school or sixth form setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements). • Skills: Exceptional subject knowledge, confident classroom management techniques, and the ability to link theoretical business and economic concepts to real-world current events. • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
