Learning Support Assistant Location: Derbyshire Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time About the Role Monarch Education are seeking a compassionate and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Derbyshire from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory processing differences, and complex SEND requirements . The school is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are supported to achieve both academically and personally. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to provide tailored support that promotes engagement, independence, confidence, and wellbeing. You will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and access a positive educational experience. Requirements • Experience working with children or young people in education, childcare, support work, care, or similar settings. • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • A patient, positive, and adaptable approach. • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues. • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Desirable • Previous experience within a SEND or specialist education setting. • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, learning difficulties, or complex needs. • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication systems. • Understanding of sensory needs and inclusive learning strategies. • Experience working with EHCPs. • Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or a related field.
