About the role

Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) Location: Leigh-on-Sea Salary: £93- £120 per day (Depending on experience) Contract Type: Full-time Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you thrive on building positive relationships and helping young people overcome barriers to learning? GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist SEMH school in Leigh-on-Sea. As a Learning Support Assistant , you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SEN professionals, you will help create a calm, structured and nurturing environment where students can build confidence, regulate their emotions and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities: • Support pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD and additional learning needs on a 1:1 and small group basis. • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and emotional wellbeing. • Support the delivery of personalised learning and intervention programmes. • Use trauma-informed , restorative and de-escalation strategies to manage behaviour positively. • Promote emotional regulation, resilience and independence. • Assist with behaviour support plans and EHCP outcomes. • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to provide holistic support. Qualifications and Skills: • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour is desirable. • Calm, patient and resilient approach. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. • Passion for supporting vulnerable young people. • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
