Learning Support Assistant (SEND) – Temp to Permanent Location: York Salary: £92.50 - £105 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications) Start Date: September 2026 (or as soon as possible) Contract: Full-Time | Temp to Permanent Learning Support Assistant Jobs in York Vision for Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive school in York to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) on a Temp to Permanent basis. You'll play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential within a supportive and nurturing school environment. The Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will: • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs. • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across the curriculum. • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs and encourage independence. • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils' social, emotional and academic development. • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff. • Prepare learning resources and contribute to maintaining an engaging classroom environment. • Support pupils during breaktimes, educational visits and other school activities where required. • Work closely with teachers, the SEND team and parents to ensure the best outcomes for every child. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have: • Experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or within an educational setting. • A good understanding of supporting pupils with SEND. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • A caring, patient and adaptable approach. • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
