Level 3 Teaching Assistant (SEND Support) The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teaching Assistant to provide classroom support and professional, confidential administrative support for the SENDCO at Dallam Primary School. This role balances direct classroom work, small-group interventions and the accurate, confidential administration that ensures pupils with additional needs can access learning, grow in independence and feel included across the school. The successful candidate will be someone who: - Is highly organised and digitally literate - Can work collaboratively with other staff - Can communicate effectively with children, parents and other staff - Has a positive approach to managing children’s behaviour - Has NVQ for Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) Experience of working with children with special educational needs would be an advantage. What you'll be doing - Deliver planned small-group work and targeted interventions under the direction of the SENDCO and classroom teachers. - Prepare resources, adapt classroom activities and encourage pupils to participate and develop independence. - Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies where needed to keep pupils safe and learning. - Build strong, calm relationships with pupils and act as a role model. - Provide confidential administrative support to the SENDCO: collating and inputting SEN data, maintaining filing systems (including Arbor), logging communications, booking appointments, and taking minutes at meetings when required. - Support transitions by transferring SEN information and updating provision maps and timetables. - Accompany staff and pupils on visits and assist with supervision at break/lunch as required. - Follow school policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and report concerns promptly. What we're looking for Essential - NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent (NVQ for Supporting Teaching and Learning acceptable). - Minimum 2 years' experience working with children in an educational setting. - Ability to plan and deliver small-group activities and adapt support to individual pupils' needs. - Strong verbal and written communication and good organisational skills; ability to multitask. - IT literate, confident using Microsoft Office and able to learn school MIS systems (for example, Arbor). - Understanding of safeguarding requirements and commitment to confidentiality. - Able to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues. Desirable - Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs. - Familiarity with data tracking and school MIS (for example, Arbor). - Knowledge of referral routes and external SEN services.
