About the role

A vibrant and well-respected secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a passionate, innovative, and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join their thriving Creative Arts department. This is a full-time, permanent position starting ASAP, suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) eager to inspire students through music education. About the Role As a Music Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially KS5, developing students’ performance, composition, and theoretical understanding. You will plan lessons that foster creativity, confidence, and musical skills while accommodating a range of abilities and interests. The role also involves preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations, leading school ensembles, supporting performances and concerts, and encouraging participation in extracurricular music activities such as choirs, bands, and competitions. Key Responsibilities • Deliver high-quality Music lessons across KS3/4 (KS5 optional) • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations • Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging schemes of work that develop musical skills • Lead and support school ensembles, concerts, and performances • Assess, monitor, and track student progress • Contribute to departmental development and enrichment programmes • Maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment that encourages creativity About the School This Portsmouth secondary school is recognised for strong academic standards, outstanding creative provision, and a supportive, collaborative staff culture.
