The role
As Pastoral Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting students' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and personal development. You'll work closely with senior leaders, teachers, families, and external agencies to ensure every student has the support they need to succeed.
You'll be:
•
Leading the pastoral support for your designated year group or key stage
•
Building positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted and approachable role model
•
Leading behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing interventions to improve student outcomes
•
Working closely with families, teaching staff, safeguarding teams, and external agencies to provide joined-up support
•
Managing challenging situations calmly and consistently, using restorative approaches where appropriate
•
Supporting vulnerable students and helping remove barriers to learning
•
Monitoring pastoral data and identifying students who may require additional support
•
Contributing to safeguarding, inclusion, and whole-school wellbeing initiatives
•
Promoting a positive, inclusive school culture where every student feels valued and supported
What we're looking for
•
Experience in a pastoral leadership role, behaviour, safeguarding, education, youth work, or a similar setting
•
Strong knowledge of behaviour management, student wellbeing, and pastoral support
•
Experience leading interventions that improve attendance, behaviour, or student engagement
•
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
•
The confidence to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals
•
A calm, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people
•
A genuine passion for improving outcomes and creating opportunities for every student
Experience with safeguarding processes, restorative practice, or multi-agency working would be an advantage.
