Pastoral Manager Large Mainstream Secondary School – Blackburn Start Date: September 2026 Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you a passionate and committed professional with experience working with young people? We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Pastoral Manager to join our thriving and inclusive secondary school in Blackburn from September 2026 . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development of our students. The Role As a Pastoral Manager, you will work closely with students, families, teaching staff and external agencies to provide high-quality pastoral support. You will be responsible for promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, safeguarding vulnerable students and helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every young person can succeed. Key responsibilities will include: • Providing pastoral support to students across a designated year group or key stage. • Building positive relationships with students, parents/carers and staff. • Supporting students with attendance, behaviour and wellbeing concerns. • Working with families and external agencies to address barriers to learning. • Promoting high standards of behaviour, inclusion and student engagement. • Supporting students through transitions, challenges and personal development. The Successful Candidate We are looking for someone who: • Has previous experience working with young people , preferably within a school, college, youth work, social care or similar setting. • Understands the challenges facing young people in secondary education. • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills. • Can remain calm, resilient and professional when dealing with challenging situations. • Has strong organisational and administrative skills. • Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
