Pastoral Support Assistant

A secondary school in Stoke Newington, Hackney is looking for a Pastoral Support Assistant to support pupils who need help with behaviour, attendance, confidence and school engagement. This role sits between behaviour, pastoral care and keeping pupils engaged in school. This is a permanent position starting in September 2026. This role is suited to someone who can build relationships quickly while still holding clear boundaries. You will be working with pupils who may need mentoring, emotional support or help staying on track during the school day. What the role involves: - Pastoral and behaviour support for secondary-aged pupils - Helping pupils manage routines, expectations and relationships - Working with teachers, pastoral leads and safeguarding staff - Supporting pupils before issues become bigger problems What they are looking for: - Experience in schools, youth work, mentoring, behaviour support or pastoral care - Calm and professional communication - Confidence working with pupils who may push boundaries - Someone reliable, mature and consistent Pay: £95 - £115 per day Location: Stoke Newington, Hackney (E8 1DY) Start date: September 2026 Apply now if you are looking for a permanent SEN or education role from September.
