Position: Safeguarding Officer Location: Barnet Contract: Full-Time Start Date: Immediate / Negotiable Safeguarding Officer Role in a Secondary School A well-established secondary school in Barnet is seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to join its pastoral and safeguarding team. This is a full-time role within a supportive and inclusive school environment that places strong emphasis on student welfare, child protection, and wellbeing. The safeguarding team plays a key role in ensuring students are safe, supported, and able to thrive both academically and personally. About the Role You will support the school’s safeguarding and child protection procedures, working closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff, external agencies, and families to ensure students receive appropriate support. The role involves managing safeguarding concerns, maintaining accurate records, supporting attendance and welfare interventions, and promoting a safe and positive school environment. You will act as a key point of contact for safeguarding matters while helping to ensure the school remains compliant with statutory safeguarding responsibilities. Key Responsibilities • Support the school’s safeguarding and child protection processes • Maintain accurate safeguarding and welfare records • Liaise with parents, carers, external agencies, and local authorities • Support vulnerable students and coordinate interventions • Monitor attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing concerns • Assist with safeguarding referrals and case management • Promote safeguarding awareness across the school community • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation and procedures The School Environment This secondary school in Barnet provides a caring and inclusive environment where student wellbeing and safeguarding are central to school life.
