About the role

School Admin Officer Location: Near Westhoughton Hours: Full Time (8:45am - 3:00pm) Start Date: 1st September Handover Dates: 10th & 11th August Due to a late resignation, a welcoming and community-focused primary school near Westhoughton is seeking a School Admin Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive school environment where you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school office. Acting as the first point of contact for parents, pupils, staff and visitors, you'll be responsible for delivering a professional and efficient administrative service while supporting the wider school team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply for the permanent position when it is advertised and, for the right person, this temporary assignment could lead to a permanent appointment. Key Responsibilities • Managing front-of-house reception duties • Handling telephone and email enquiries • Supporting pupil attendance and administrative processes • Maintaining accurate school records • Liaising with parents, staff and external agencies • Providing general administrative support to the school leadership team The Ideal Candidate Will Have • Previous administration experience, ideally within a school environment • Basic knowledge of SIMS and/or Arbor (desirable) • Excellent organisational and communication skills • Strong customer service experience • A professional, friendly and approachable manner • The ability to work effectively in a busy office environment The school would also welcome applications from individuals who have worked within a school setting in another capacity , including Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Attendance Officers, Reception Staff and other support staff looking to move into an administrative role. Candidates with transferable experience from sectors such as the NHS, care, local authority or other customer-focused administrative environments are also encouraged to apply.
