SEN Teacher - Slough SENDhelp is recruiting a full-time SEN Teacher for an all-ages specialist school in Slough. This opportunity is suitable for a qualified teacher with previous experience teaching pupils with special educational needs, whether their background is in early years, primary, secondary or post-16 education. The successful SEN Teacher will deliver engaging, accessible lessons while adapting teaching to pupils' individual learning, communication and developmental needs. Qualified Teacher Status and previous SEN teaching experience are essential. Key details • Job title: SEN Teacher • Location: Slough • Setting: All-ages specialist SEND school • Working pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday • Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm • Qualification: Qualified Teacher Status is essential • Experience: Previous SEN teaching experience is essential The role As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver structured lessons for pupils with a range of special educational needs. You will adapt activities, resources and teaching methods so that pupils can participate confidently and make meaningful progress from their individual starting points. The school supports pupils across different age groups, from younger children through to young adults. Applications are therefore welcomed from teachers with experience in any educational phase, provided they have taught children or young people with SEND. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, school leaders and other professionals to provide consistent support and help pupils work towards their educational and EHCP outcomes. What you will be doing • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons for pupils with SEND • Adapting teaching strategies and resources to meet individual needs • Assessing, recording and reporting on pupil progress • Supporting pupils to work towards personalised learning and EHCP targets • Creating a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment • Providing clear guidance to Teaching Assistants and support staff • Managing behaviour positively and consistently • Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation and independence • Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and relevant professionals • Maintaining accurate planning, assessment and safeguarding records Essential requirements • Qualified Teacher Status • Previous experience teaching pupils with special educational needs • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting • The ability to plan and differentiate lessons for pupils working at different levels • Strong classroom and behaviour-management skills • A patient, resilient and consistent approach • Good communication and teamwork skills • A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare Experience may have been gained within an early years, primary, secondary, further education or all-ages SEND setting.
