SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Location: Sunderland Salary: £95 - £115 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs? GSL Education Newcastle are seeking enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Sunderland . The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by promoting confidence, independence, and academic progress in an inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant: • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. • Support students according to their individual education plans (IEPs) and learning requirements. • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons. • Promote positive behaviour and encourage students' social and emotional development. • Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual needs. • Support pupils with personal care or mobility needs where required. • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SENCO. • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff. • Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment. Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant: • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable. • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent qualification is desirable. • Strong understanding of SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and other additional needs. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting students. • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. • Genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential. • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
