SEN Teaching Assistant

Veritas Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across secondary schools in Kirklees. We are working with a number of inclusive and supportive secondary schools looking for enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to provide both classroom and one-to-one support for students with a range of additional needs. The Role As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide tailored support to students with SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and learning difficulties. • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning strategies and interventions. • Support students both within the classroom and through targeted one-to-one or small-group sessions. • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing. • Assist in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for candidates who: • Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable but not essential). • Are patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people. • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills. • Can effectively support students with varying academic and emotional needs. • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or have transferable experience from education, care, youth work, or support work settings. • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
