Job description

Days per week - 1 day The Role: The Sports Leader will support pupils' wellbeing, confidence, resilience, and engagement through a combination of physical activity, mentoring, and targeted individual and small-group support across the primary age range. Working closely with teaching staff, the Sports Leader will build positive relationships with pupils, encourage healthy lifestyles and positive behaviours, and use sport and physical activity as a tool to promote social, emotional, and personal development. The role will contribute to creating an inclusive, active, and supportive school environment. Key Tasks: Deliver individual and small-group sessions to support pupils' confidence, resilience, emotional wellbeing, and social skills. Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils and provide encouragement and mentoring. Use sport, physical activity, and structured games to promote engagement, teamwork, self-esteem, and positive behaviour. Support pupils who may experience barriers to participation, learning, or social interaction. Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, perseverance, and healthy lifestyles. Deliver and support a range of inclusive physical activity opportunities across the primary age range. Encourage participation from all pupils, particularly those who may be less confident or reluctant to engage. Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of individual pupils. Support the development of pupils' confidence, communication skills, and overall wellbeing through active participation. About You: Experience of working with children or young people in an educational, sporting, community, or support setting. Experience delivering activities, mentoring, or wellbeing support for children. Understanding of how physical activity can support children's emotional, social, and personal development. Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities when working with children. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate children through supportive and inclusive activities. Ability to adapt approaches to meet a range of needs and abilities.
