Job description

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at St Mary of Charity CofE (Aided) Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and support high‑quality learning across the school. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development. You will help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment and provide tailored support to individual pupils or small groups, including those with additional needs. This post is for 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only (38 weeks). Key Responsibilities Support teaching and learning in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher Work in small groups to help pupils access the curriculum Assist with planning and delivering learning activities Help maintain a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment Support pupils with SEN, behavioural, or emotional needs as required Contribute to assessments, record‑keeping, and reporting on pupil progress Supervise pupils during break times, transitions, and school activities Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies About You We are looking for someone who is: Passionate about helping children learn and succeed Patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education Able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues Confident supporting learning across a range of ages and abilities Organised, proactive, and willing to take initiative A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills What We Offer A welcoming, supportive staff team Opportunities for professional development and training A well‑resourced, positive learning environment The chance to make a meaningful impact on children’s education We warmly encourage visits to the school.
