About the role
Some children need a little extra support to feel safe, settled, and ready to shine, and that’s where truly brilliant Early Years staff make all the difference.
A warm and welcoming primary school in Keynsham is looking for a nurturing Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their EYFS team, supporting children with additional needs in a caring, play-based environment. This role would suit someone who leads with patience, celebrates every small step forward, and understands the magic of helping young children feel seen, supported, and successful.
You’ll be joining a school where relationships matter, teamwork is valued, and no two days ever look quite the same.
What your role will involve:
• Supporting children in Early Years with complex needs, both 1:1 and within small groups
• Helping children feel calm, safe, and confident in their daily routines
• Using gentle consistency, clear boundaries, and lots of encouragement to support emotional wellbeing
• Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt activities and learning opportunities
• Creating playful, engaging moments that help children build confidence and independence
• Celebrating the little wins every day, because they really do matter
We’d love to hear from you if you:
• Have experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, high needs, or behaviours that challenge
• Bring patience, resilience, and a calm approach, even on tougher days
• Understand child development and the importance of the Early Years foundation stage
• Are warm, caring, and genuinely passionate about helping young children thrive
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with children, staff, and families
• Want to be part of a supportive school community where your role is truly valued
Why this role is so rewarding:
• A nurturing school environment with supportive staff around you
• Clear routines and strong teamwork throughout the day
• The chance to make a lasting impact during such an important stage of a child’s development
• Meaningful work where every day brings moments that matter
Why join Protocol Education?
• Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella company hassle
• Free access to online CPD and training, including Thrive training
• A friendly local consultant who’ll support you every step of the way
