Teach and Inspire Pupils at the Start of Key Stage 1 We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Bishop’s Stortford, starting as soon as possible. The Role As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons that challenge pupils while supporting a wide range of abilities. You will use assessment to monitor pupil progress, identify gaps in learning, and inform future planning. Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development is a key aspect of the role, helping them build confidence, resilience, and independence. You will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders to ensure consistency and high-quality teaching across Key Stage 1. Effective communication with parents and carers is essential to keep them informed about their child’s learning and progress. Key Responsibilities • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum • Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform planning and differentiation • Support pupils with varying learning needs, including SEND and EAL learners • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence • Collaborate with teaching assistants and Key Stage 1 colleagues • Communicate effectively with parents and carers • Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school-wide initiatives The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will: • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1 • Be confident in curriculum delivery, assessment, and differentiation • Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills • Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable • Demonstrate commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding • Have a positive, professional approach to teamwork Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply and will receive mentoring and support.
