The Hive College is based in Erdington, Birmingham and is a Specialist Further Education College for learners aged 19-25 years with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. In November 2023 we were graded Outstanding in every single aspect of an Ofsted Inspection. As part of our on-going development of a highly successful specialist college, we have a Teaching Assistant vacancy to join our team of professional and dedicated people. The college is a very happy and positive working environment. We believe that ‘Better Never Ends’. We offer three individualised study programmes for students with PMLD, SLD, MLD and ASD. Our study programmes focus on preparation for adulthood, which include: Employment Independent living Good health Friends, relationships and community The successful candidate will demonstrate: An NVQ Level 3 Vocational or Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent), plus minimum GCSE English and Maths Grade C and above (or equivalent). A good understanding of how students learn and develop in education. The ability to support the work placement team in meeting the needs of all students, including mentoring, pastoral care and assisting with the physical care of students as and when required. The ability to work with individuals and small groups of students. Excellent communication and written skills with high expectations of learning and behaviour. The skills to support students in the workplace and whilst out in the community.
