Teaching Assistant • Location: Brixton • Position: Teaching Assistant • Start date: September • Pay: £1800 - £2200 per month An amazing opportunity at an OFSTED 'good' school that are looking to hire a teaching assistant for a KS1 classroom for the beginning of the academic year. Recent graduates or experienced teaching assistants are welcome to apply. The school believe that there are a number of personal qualities which are essential for a successful, productive and happy life in the future. The school believe that they play a key role in supporting children and setting them up for a successful future. This is achieved through the staff working together, with the families and the wider community, to support the development of well-rounded young adults. As a KS1 teaching assistant you will be tasked with the responsibility of providing support to all the children in the classroom; helping with interventions for under performing pupils, assisting SEN pupils one to one and aiding the higher achieving students when necessary. The school are a 2 form entry with supportive staff across the year group that are happy to assist new staff members settle into their new setting. Furthermore, its closely located to a tube station and offers parking for all long term staff. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT Teaching Assistant support for Pupils: • Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence • Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers: • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupil's work • Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals • Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be Qualifications needs as a Teaching Assistant: Desirable for a teaching assistant: • An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent If you would like to be considered for this teaching assistant opportunity, please send your application and if successful we will contact you with full information about the role and the school.
