About the role

Hagbourne CE Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented leader who is passionate about achieving the very best outcomes for all children. Working alongside the Headteacher and leaders from Ridgeway Education Trust (RET), you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the school, driving school improvement and ensuring that every child thrives academically, socially and emotionally. The successful candidate will:

Support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and management of the school. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the School Development Plan. Promote high standards of teaching, learning and assessment across the school. Lead and support school improvement initiatives to secure the best possible outcomes for all pupils. Champion inclusion and ensure that all children are supported to achieve their full potential. Foster a positive school culture where pupils feel safe, valued, respected and motivated to succeed. Work collaboratively with staff to build a strong team culture and promote professional development. Monitor, evaluate and develop school practice through lesson visits, pupil voice activities, data analysis and quality assurance processes. Undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) ensuring safeguarding systems, procedures and practices are robust and effective. Contribute to safeguarding leadership, including working with families and external agencies to promote the welfare and safety of pupils. Support the monitoring and improvement of pupil attendance and contribute to strategies that remove barriers to attendance. Work closely with parents and carers to build strong, positive partnerships that support children's wellbeing and achievement. Support behaviour and pastoral systems, ensuring a consistent and restorative approach across the school. Play a key role in preparing for external accountability processes, including Ofsted and SIAMS inspections.

Practicalities:

The role will include both leadership and teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will be released from class for two days per week to undertake leadership duties. They will teach for the remaining days, maintaining a strong classroom presence and modelling excellent practice. The post is paid on the Leadership Scale L4-L8 depending on experience.

Has a thorough understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and is committed to ensuring all children are safe and supported. Is solution-focused, resilient and able to approach challenges with positivity and determination. Has high expectations for behaviour, attendance and achievement. Can contribute effectively to whole-school leadership and school improvement. Shares and promotes the Christian vision and values of our school.
