Assistant Headteacher

We are seeking an exceptional and ambitious leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about securing outstanding outcomes for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and who has the vision, expertise and drive to lead inclusive practice across our school. As Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of SEND and inclusion whilst contributing to wider school leadership. Working closely with the Headteacher, Trust colleagues and senior leaders, you will champion a culture of high expectations, belonging and success for all students. This role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight, ensuring that students with SEND receive high-quality provision that enables them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

About You

We are looking for a leader who:

Has successful leadership experience within a secondary school setting Has a strong understanding of current SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and the EHCP process Holds, or is willing to achieve within the required timeframe, the National Award for SEN Coordination or NPQ SEND Has a proven track record of raising achievement and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND Can inspire, influence and develop others through effective leadership Is committed to inclusive education and the belief that every child can succeed Next Steps Role Profile: Full details of the Assistant Headteacher role and the associated SENDCo responsibilities can be found in the attached role profiles.
