Job description

We are committed to developing a positive school environment, where students can regulate their emotions and are taught how to contribute positively to our inclusive, respectful and ambitious school culture. We are looking for a colleague who has an enthusiasm for pastoral support, the skills to guide and develop students who have additional needs, and who has a vision for promoting Saltash school's high expectations for respectful behaviour. The role includes oversight of the school’s ‘Reset’ removal room and support for colleagues on duty there, working with students, pastoral staff and the wider inclusion team to intervene with students who are experiencing difficulties in school, as well as communicating effectively and proactively with parents. You will need to be positive, calm and resilient, and to have a good understanding of the drivers of poor behaviour and strategies to support students. Saltash Community School is a co-educational 11-18 school of over 1200 students including a successful sixth form and incorporating an Area Resource Base; a specialised environment for children with severe and complex learning needs. Saltash is a friendly, caring, supportive and ambitious school with people and relationships at its heart. Here at Saltash we are determined to improve the life chances of every single student on roll, developing happy and healthy citizens who make a positive contribution to our local community and to wider society. We are unable to accept applications made via CVs or applications from agencies. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks and references, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance, the Trust will undertake an online search of all shortlisted candidates.
