We are looking for an enthusiastic Behaviour Support Assistant to join our friendly team. This exciting new role presents a fantastic opportunity for either a more experienced pastoral worker or someone who is looking to take their first steps into the profession. Applicants should be passionate about supporting children, have patience, resilience and determination and a desire to support West Kent’s children to flourish and achieve their ‘Pure Potential’ Responsibilities may vary but will include: • To provide individual and/or group support or activities for students in danger of becoming disaffected or disengaged • To support students in developing the necessary skills to overcome barriers to demonstrating positive behaviour for learning in the classroom • Identify when a student is struggling emotionally and be able to support as necessary, referring relevant concerns to pastoral, safeguarding, SEN or specific staff where required • To support students in developing the necessary skills to overcome barriers to demonstrating positive behaviour for learning in the classroom • Maintaining a positive and nurturing atmosphere that supports all students to actively engage with learning and make positive progress • To support the reduction of suspensions, isolations and the raising of attendance for identified students Ideally, you will have experience of working with young people and/or within care/social care sectors.
